Please read carefully the "Limitation of Contestants" section in the new 2017-18 IACS FABA Handbook of Rules updated Nov 2017 (page 2). Also, refer to Appendix 2: Category/Contestant Overview on pages 63-64. Bible areas have been expanded to encourage more participation.
IACS Competitions Handbook of Rules 2017-2018 Edition
Updates and corrections have been made for clarification.
Please read the Handbook in its entirety. Make sure every student and sponsor consults the 2017-18 Handbook for their area of competition or responsibility. Discard all previous editions of the Handbook and DO NOT RELY ON PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE. ONLINE REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 1.
*Specific registration instructions for the Briscott website will be emailed to each school. Reminder: All MS and SH Bible Quiz Teams must be registered by FEB 1 and fees paid by FEB 15. Please also register your academic testing and writing entries for MS by Feb 15 in the Briscott program. CHANGES or additions in any event may be made until March 15. Registration fees are due March 15. After March 15 there will be an additional fee of $25 PER CALL for changes phoned in to the host site. Absolutely no changes will be accepted after 8:00 a.m. April 6. Make checks payable to IACS and mail to Suburban Christian School, ATTN Denise Barnes. Enclose a copy of the School Fee Summary (from the Briscott registration site). Double-check all entries and fees for accuracy. Remember to "populate" all group entries. FEES $10 School Registration $10 Individual Categories $10 Duet Categories (Piano, Piano/Organ) $25 Small Ens (Vocal, Inst, Handbell/Handchime Ens, Acting, Readers' Theatre) $40 Large Ens (Vocal, Inst, Choric Speaking) $40 Choral Group, Choir, Handchime Choir $50 Bible Quiz (for each team), Band Note: Fee is required for each entry in categories that permit multiple entries from a school. Fees for academic testing are paid directly to TestPoint at the time of online registration. See further details below. |
JUDGING FORMS
- The IACS 2017-18 IACS Handbook of Rules (updated Nov 2017), including judging forms, will be used for Middle School and Senior High state competitions.
- Schools are required to provide their own completed judging forms for Senior High competition.
- Judging forms will be provided by the host school for Middle School competition.
Bible & Academic Subject Testing
ALL Bible and Subject tests (excluding writing and spelling) will be taken ONLINE through TestPoint.

Four (4) tests are available for grades 5-6 and are grade specific.
Grade 5: English, Math, History, Science.
Grade 6: English, Math, History, Science.
Seven (7) tests are available for Middle School:
English, History/Geography, Science, General Math (7 only), Pre-Algebra (8 only),
Old Testament Survey, New Testament Survey. *These are surveys and are not limited to the books of the Bible specified for
Senior High and National Competitions.
All tests must be ordered within the ordering window, January 8-19, 2018, and fees paid directly to TestPoint when the order is placed.
All tests must be taken ONLINE at your school within the testing window, January 22-February 17, 2018.

Schools may enter 1 or 2 teams per level (Middle School, Senior High).
Students in grades 7-8 may compete in either Middle School or Senior High (but not both). Students in grades 5-6 may participate at the Middle School level only.
Bible Quizzing for BOTH Senior High and Middle School will take place on Thursday, March 8, at Southeast Baptist Tabernacle, 6835 Shelbyville Road, Indianapolis 46237.

Spelling Study Lists
Students, parents, and teachers can access the complete list of 2017 words at www.myspellit.com. Words at both the Senior High and Middle School competitions will be taken from the full My Spell It list. Middle School students should concentrate on familiar words from each language page as well as the "Commonly Misspelled" and "Often Confused" word lists.

Creative Writing: Poetry & Expository Writing: Essay
Topics and instructions for 2018 will be posted FEBRUARY 1, 2018. Writing may be done at your school any time between February 1 and February 17, and must be submitted electronically by February 17.
