AACS NATIONAL COMPETITION
AACS National Competition is April 14-16, 2020. Please refer to the 2017-2018 Handbook of Rules, page 1, Eligibility of Entries for National Competition.
Students who win multiple categories in State Competition may need to make a choice which one they will enter in National Competition (see the AACS Competition Manual, Limitation of Contestants). This choice must be made soon after the results are posted so that other contestants may be given the opportunity. Registration for National Competition is held immediately following the Senior High Competition awards ceremony. A representative from each school should attend this meeting and be prepared with all the information needed to complete registration before leaving the host site.
- Only senior high students (grades 9-12) who have won or "placed" in state competition are eligible.
- Students in grades 7 and 8 may compete only in the categories of band/orchestra and handbell/handchime choir.
- Elementary students may not compete in any category at the AACS National Competition.
- If a first-place contestant is not able to attend the AACS National Competition, the second-place contestant will be given the opportunity to attend.
- If the second-place contestant is not able to attend the AACS National Competition, the third-place contestant will be given the opportunity to attend as long as the third-place contestant also earned a "superior" or "1 rating" on his/her judging sheet.
