Spelling Study Lists
- Students lists for senior high contestants are available from The Spelling Champ. All the words listed are from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary. The emphasis of the lists is to teach students to learn how to spell and to minimize the memorization of words.
- Words lists at The Spelling Champ are organized into sections by language of origin, and further segmented into “Study Words” and “Challenge Words.” Spelling bee words will not necessarily come strictly from these lists but will come from the same or similar categories.
- Contestants should study all sections, but concentrate particularly on familiar words from each language page as well as "Words Frequently Misspelled" and "Often Confused" lists.
